PSYCHIC TV LIVE SERIES on VOICEPRINT RECORDS:
During the 1980's a lot of bootlegs began appearing of PTV live, especially in Europe. In the end, to try and stop the pirates and funnel a little of the money generated back into our ongoing creative projects we decided to release 23 (at that time vinyl) albums of PSYCHIC TV live. It enabled us to try and ensure the best possible quality of sound, although BE WARNED many are still just from cassette tapes and very much for the serious enthusiast. It also meant we could design a graphic unity and publish thoughtful, or informative texts on the sleeves. Each of the first 9 records had a voucher inside. Any Individual who collected all 9 vouchers could send them in to us at our own label, Temple records and receive a free 10th album of new studio recordings that was a yellow picture disc. The nickname of that free, very limited album was "Psychedlic Violence"...
BY THE WAY, we here at The-Next New-Way-On Genesis P-Orridge website do not even have a copy of the original 10th album. We'd LOVE to have one donated to Thee Last Museum archives to help complete our collection. Thank you Bruce. It is so nice to know our sense of chosen famille, and generosity of spirit as a way of being are not just empty theories, but are manifest in and by action.
ANYWAY...this y-era we have arranged with VOICEPRINT RECORDS in England to gradually re-release the live series on CD. (The original series imploded at about record #16(?), see even we're not sure!) The first 6 CD's were simply duplicated from old CD's. But from #7 onwards each CD is to be re-mastered. So far Bryin Dall of Thee Majesty has undertaken this task, donating huge amounts of hours late at night on his computer. The sleeve notes so far (#1-#12) are excerpts from the journals Genesis kept at the time. Deliberately intimate and vulnerable, an honest attempt to share how it feels to want to create music and ideas that in some way might inspire or console other humane beings, and possibly even help us become a more compassionate and divinely touched species.
Eddie O'Dowd, an amazing designer has developed the original designs to give a more perfect rendering of the documentary aspects of the project.
Every CD is numbered. Limited to 1000 copies ONLY. No exceptions! To date, the following twelve dis-concerts listed below have been released. Your best bet, if you wish to order them is to go directly to
